Considering the word eternal in Scripture means always has been, always will be, there has never been a time when the Word of God has not existed. It is Eternal.
There is much to be gleaned from that Truth.
1. God’s Truth in His Eternal Word is infinite in time (past & present), and cannot be changed.
2. God’s Word stresses the eternal origin and eternal duration of His Word.
· Psalm 119:89 - For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.
3. God’s Eternal Word is Truth that will stand before the Throne of God.
4. When Jesus is called The Word, there is a Spiritual connection of Himself to the written Word of God. In connection with Eternal Life, it means the Life which is God’s and hence is not affected by the limitations of time.
· John 1:1, 14 – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God…And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us…
5. In 1 Peter 1:23, Jesus, the Saviour (Who was God in an earthsuit), is spoken of as being the Seed by which sinners can be Born Again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
The Holy Scriptures are unique and infinitely valuable. Eternally spoken by God. Confirmed by God. Sustained by God. Preserved by God. The Holy Eternal Scriptures.
