Is BELIEVING Important?

I was reading something the other day about what constitutes salvation. What does the Word of God have to say about HOW to be Born Again? WHO or WHAT is involved in trusting the Lord Jesus Christ to be our Savior? And all of a sudden I run across this statement by one writer… “our believing has nothing to do with our salvation.” I stopped and read it again. I could not believe my eyes. I couldn’t even contemplate the idea presented. And I immediately thought of 1 John 5:9-15,

He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself:

he that believeth not God hath made him a liar;

because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life,

and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life:

and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God;

that ye may know that ye have eternal life,

that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Our believing is not important? Need more?

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…Acts 16:31

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness…Romans 10:10

Believing precedes trusting. Trusting precedes receiving. Receiving the salvation provided by the Lord Jesus Christ.
