John 8:32, 36 - Truth MAKES us FREE

There is a vast difference between SET free and MADE free. The first is typically a temporary “fix.” All we have to do is think about the times we thought we were SET FREE, and it turned out we were not. MADE FREE is a permanent manifestation of the Life of God in any area of our life.

God IS Truth. All Truth owned and experienced makes God’s Saints free. What is it to “own” Truth? To have believed (Greek: pisteuo. owning to the point of trusting and being dependent upon God). Apart from pisteuo, we kid ourselves with just a mental assent of a fact.

That dastard carnal mind can deceive us into thinking (and giving mental assent) to something or someone as “truth.” However, something can be TRUE but not the TRUTH. Example: I tell you my name is Bobby Lee McDowell. Is it TRUE I told you that? Yes. But the TRUTH is that my name is Bryan Lee McDowell.

God IS Truth. God’s Word IS Truth. When we know, own, and have been Made Free, it is God Who has done it. And we are FREE indeed.
