Renewing the Mind, Pt. 1

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2

Great parabolic teaching in these two verses. Let’s focus on one thought: “renewing the mind.”

Which mind is Holy Spirit talking about? Can’t be the physical brain. It doesn’t grasp Spiritual things. Can’t be the carnal mind. It cannot grasp Spiritual things. Can’t be the Mind of God. His Mind could never need renewing. There are no other minds. Therefore we See clearly this is a great parabolic teaching with Truth hidden from sinners and wanting Saints to come to the end of trusting in our thinking about Spiritual things. Remind you of Proverbs 3:5-6?

Saints possess THE Mind of God. His Mind is part of our created Spiritual Life at salvation/new Birth. The Mind of God needs no “renewing.” Can’t be “renewed” in the sense the carnal mind would think. So, what is the Greek for “renewing”? anakainosis. It appears only 1 other time: Titus 3:5.

anakainosis means “a qualitatively new.” Making a person different than in the past. It is not a renovation, but being brand new. The new Mind at the new creation. This new Mind created in Saints is THE Mind of God.
