1 Peter 1:3-5, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you. Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
Two issues have plagued a lot of Saints: 1) assurance of salvation, 2) eternal security. This post deals with the latter.
Eternal Security of the Believer is a huge issue. Once Saved, Always Saved. Once Born Again, always a member of the Family of God. Saved to the uttermost of eternity. What is your belief on this issue?
For me, it boils down to three things. 1) what the Word of God says, 2) salvation is entirely wrapped in being Spiritually born from above, 3) me believing, trusting, receiving, and resting in God.
So, let’s ask ourselves, could we think of a more complete description of God providing, securing, and completing the lively hope of salvation for a Saint? I don’t think so.
Peter says we begin by praising God for His salvation. That salvation is according to His abundant mercy. That salvation is a lively hope grounded in the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Eternal Life, a lively hope (an expectancy to receive). Hallelujah!
