Scriptural Grace

John 1:16, the fullness of God by His Grace

The Scriptural Truth of the Grace of God is one of the most misunderstood premises of Christianity. The Grace of God is such an important identity of the Life of God in action. How could Saints be so deceived and detoured from experiencing the dramatic impact of our Being?

Simple. An incorrect (thereby, false) definition. The Greek charis is defined as grace (4 times in the Gospels, 127 times post-Pentecost). Only one other time (James 1:11) is one other Greek word, euprepeia, translated grace.

According to George V. Wigram’s The Englishman’s Greek Concordance 17 times charis is translated as words other than grace. These are pleasure (2), benefit (1), favor (4), thanks (8), liberality (1), and acceptable (1).

Many Greek scholars identify charis as divine influence upon the heart, of manner or act. Grace identifies an action or work of God. God doing, God working.

We can only conclude the arch enemy of Christianity, the devil, has once again shown his prowess as in Genesis 3:1, Yea, hath God said? Distorting the meaning of this important word of God has led multitudes to miss seeing the indwelling Life of Holy Spirit in action in their life. The devil’s deception: grace is simply the unmerited favor of God. False. What favor of God is merited?
