The 4 Lives of a Saint - pt. 4, Eternal Life

ETERNAL LIFE is the Life of God.

Eternal differs from everlasting. Eternal is forever past and forever future. Always has been, always will be. Everlasting is forever future only. Saints have both Eternal Life and Everlasting Life.

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness,

even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

That whosoever believeth in him should not perish,

but have eternal life.

For God so loved the world,

that he gave his only begotten Son,

that whosever believeth in him should not perish,

but have everlasting life.

John 3:14-16

Both eternal and everlasting are translated from the same Greek word, aionios. The difference is in the context of the use. Eternal Life for a Saint is as in our being a recipient of God’s Eternal Life. There is no life a Saint has that is Eternal other than the Life of God. Everlasting Life is in the context of God saying this New Life of a Saint has no end.

So verses 15 & 16 speak of both the Life that has always been and will always be, the Life of God, AND confirm that a Saint possesses God’s Life that will have no end.

It is important to know that God’s plan for mankind is a spiritual life. The physical life by God’s design is only for a period on this earth.
