Four guys in the Old Testament give us God’s Truth about His people having convictions. Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were totally committed and totally convicted of believing and trusting God.
Daniel ch. 1, vs. 1-21, Daniel (v. 8) led the three others to not defile themselves with what the king wanted to feed them because they were convicted to eat what God wanted (v. 12). And God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom (v. 17). They were found 10 times better than all the magicians and astrologers in the king’s realm (n. 20).
Daniel ch. 3, vs. 1-18, the story of S, M, & A being convicted to never bow down to another god (v. 12, 18). When King Nebuchadnezzar challenged them and their God, they said, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. No defense. They stood on their convictions.
Daniel ch. 3, vs. 19-30, the king was outraged and commanded they be thrown into a fiery furnace. No one could survive such. But, a most incredible moment with God ensued. God showed up, IN the fiery furnace with S, M, & A (v. 24). They were not hurt from the fire (v. 25).
A great lesson is learned here: standing on 1 conviction, can lead to standing on another, and another, and the miraculous presence and power of God will be experienced. In all walks of life, convictions lead to God’s provision and protection. Preferences lead to failure.
